A practical day focused on digital presence, academic positioning, and how to make your work easier to understand, find, and remember. You will learn how to plan the structure, message, and visual direction of your first personal research website.

Participants introduce their research through a short 5-minute presentation. We will explore what makes a presentation clear, memorable, and engaging, including structure, delivery, audience awareness, and confidence in Q&A.
Design stronger visual materials and use AI effectively
You will learn how to improve your slides, figures, and visual narratives so your research is communicated with clarity, creativity, and professional impact. We will also explore how to use AI tools strategically without producing generic outputs.










Workshop day: apply your learning to your own research
This hands-on day gives participants time to develop both their presentation and personal website using the tools and principles introduced during the masterclass.
You will work on your own research materials, refine your core message, improve your visual communication, and receive feedback as your presentation and website begin to take shape.
Communicate beyond academia: from media to public engagement
We will work on adapting your message for academic, interdisciplinary, public, policy, media, and professional audiences without diluting the science or compromising accuracy.
Final presentation, personalised feedback, and Q&A practice
Participants present an improved version of their research communication and receive constructive feedback, practical recommendations, and tips to help them deliver a more memorable and confident presentation.
Academic personal branding
You will explore what personal branding means in academia, why it matters, and how to present your expertise in a way that reflects the quality, originality, and values of your research.
LinkedIn profile, algorithm and posts
You will learn how to optimise your LinkedIn profile, write more effective academic posts, reach the right audiences, and think strategically about building your professional network.
Professional photoshoot: headshot for your LinkedIn profile
Participants will have the opportunity to take a professional headshot to support their LinkedIn profile and wider academic visibility.

Which career stage is it for ?
The masterclass is designed for final-year PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and senior academics, and PIs who want to communicate their work more clearly, confidently and strategically.
Do I need prior communication or AI training?
No. The masterclass is designed to build from your current level. You do not need previous communication or AI training.
Are meals included ?
Two coffee breaks and lunch are included each day. We will send you a form to confirm any dietary requirements. One evening drink is also included on Tuesday evening. Breakfast and dinner are not included.
Is accommodation included?
No. Accommodation is not included. Participants are responsible for booking their own accommodation. However, we highly recommend staying at the venue hotel. A 15% accommodation discount code will be provided once your registration has been confirmed.
What happens if I book after 5th of June ?
You can still secure a place at the full price of £1,095 until 30 June, subject to availability. Places are limited because the masterclass is designed for a small group and high-quality feedback.
Can I cancel my booking?
You may cancel within 48 hours of payment and receive a full refund, minus a £20 administration fee. After 48 hours, bookings are non-refundable. Please read the full event information and FAQ carefully before booking. f the event is full before the registration deadline, payments will be automatically declined.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring your laptop. A notebook and pen will be provided for notes, exercises and reflection during the masterclass.
You will also need to prepare a short 5-min presentation before the masterclass. Practical guidance and instructions will be sent after 5 June, once the early-bird registration period has closed.
On the final day, there will be an optional photoshoot session. If you would like to take this opportunity to receive a professional headshot, please bring an outfit with a blazer or another suitable professional look.
