Málaga Research Writing Retreat

Your academic dream come true: six nights of protected time for your research, to finish the writing you keep postponing.

Your own apartment, a private office for group sessions, brainstorming with like-minded scientists, and expert feedback on your science — a memorable week in Málaga that you do not have to plan.

You will go home with the writing done and feeling fully recharged.

Private accommodation

Privacy without isolation

You get your own apartment for the whole week — your own front door, your own kitchen, your own bathroom, a coffee machine, a table the right size for a laptop and a cup, and a welcome basket. Close the door and nobody will knock.

But all the apartments for the retreat are in the same building, and the common office is just at the end of the corridor — so you can network with the others whenever you feel like it. Join us there in the morning to brainstorm over a coffee. And whenever you want to leave your desk — for a walk, for tips on where to eat, or for a second opinion on your science — we are here for scientific feedback, for new ideas, and for making your time in Málaga more enjoyable.

Writing Rhythm

How the week works

The days are semi-structured to protect your focus while offering community when you want it. Mornings feature optional brainstorming and feedback, leaving the rest of the day for your preferred writing rhythm.

Guided Experiences

Mornings are for brainstorming and feedback, and they are completely optional. Join for creative exchange, or begin writing early if inspiration strikes.

The rest of the day is yours to writE. take breaks when you want them, since everyone's rhythm is different and we would rather not interrupt yours.

Evenings are the part to look forward to, and you don't have to organise any of it. We will be your guides: a walk together, a sunset on the water, the landmarks of the historic centre. After that you are free to go back to writing or unwind.

Retreat Package

What’s included

A week built for your writing, with Málaga around it — not the other way round. Our retreat is semi-structured, so you take whatever works best for you: writing time, optional brainstorming and feedback sessions, the company of other scientists, and evenings in Málaga to switch off.

Writing & research support

You have options. You can work quietly in your own apartment, with the door closed and nobody knocking. Or you can use the group's private office with a small kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, and snacks when you need a break from your desk. One-to-one sessions on your science are there whenever you want them. We will also give you a list of the coffee shops and rooftops worth working from when you need a change of scenery. You leave with a certificate of completion for your training record, your institution or funder.

Focused individual writing time in your private STUDIO

Tailored manuscript / PROJECT feedback sessions.

After a focused day of writing, take a well-deserved break and celebrate your progress. We’ve arranged a few activities throughout the week: a sunset catamaran cruise, a visit to the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro with a guided walk through the old town, and a memorable group dinner at a Málaga bodega.

The other evenings are yours to enjoy at your own pace—keep writing, cook in your apartment or explore the city. Everyone works differently, and there’s room for your own rhythm. One group dinner is included in your retreat fee.
